saying goodbye

RIP Madie Bear!  11-11-97 to 11-14-12

Boy oh Boy was November a hard month!  I am finally getting around to writing about it.  It was a very sad month for the Whitehead family.  We had to say goodbye to our beloved fur ball Madison.  I have had Madison since I was a senior in high school, she was given her name Madison Square Garman by my friend Brianne who picked her out with my boyfriend of the hour :).  Anyway, this little black and white monster has been my partner in crime for the last 15 years.  We have gone from my moms house to a duplex to an apartment to house together.  Once I married Trey in 2005 we decided it would be best if we hyphenated her name so she could still keep the "square".  If you knew Madie personally you knew she was NOT a lover of kids or women or other dogs. But...she did love the men in her life and her Momma.  She seemed to just be invincible outliving all of the "friends" she did have.  We were worried we might loose her back in 2009 before Landry was born but after about $600 in vet bills she snapped out of it like nothing was wrong.  Over the last year she had really gone down hill and seem to struggle just to walk with her bad knees.  It became harder and harder to see her struggle and Trey and I finally decided it would be best for her if we put her at ease.  It seemed selfish at first but then after talking to several people we realized the selfish thing was keeping her around for us.  It was a really hard decision but I know she is in a better place now.  Landry seems to understand that Madie is in heaven, she loved Madie but was never able to really play with her and hasn't been able to walk her for over a year now.  We are NOT getting a new puppy anytime soon so we are free to dog sit if needed.  RIP Madie Bear! BTW...my kitchen floor has never been so dirty...I miss my little vacuum cleaner.

  1. Aw, I'm sooo sorry!! We've had to put two of our pups to sleep and it about killed us each time. Even though they are dogs, they are still family. Praying for your family!!
