I have said since day one this kiddo is far more Garman than Whitehead! Well...here are the belly and thigh pics to prove it! I just love this chunky monkey and all her rolls. I have so far successfully made her a momma's girl and I plan on keeping it that way. This is our last week together before she starts going to Mrs. Kelly's with her big sister, I am going to make the most of it (and try not to cry thinking about it all week)!

The battle at bedtime has been one of our biggest struggles as parents so far, Landry can be so sweet during the day and at bedtime she flips a switch. Since this summer everything about Landry's bedtime routine has been out of whack. First it was staying light outside until 9 pm so we would get a late start, then in September before Hayden came we realized we needed to get Landry back in check, we found ourselves battling with her every night until close to 10 pm. It was awful! We finally starting giving in just so she would go to sleep, rubbing her back, playing with her hair, rocking her and ultimately giving in to any other manipulation technique she pulled. This quickly became tiresome and something had to give especially since I am heading back to work very soon. We talked it over and decided we would BOTH take a hard stance...one book then lights out...NO back rubbing, rocking or cuddling. We put a 10 day reward program in place...a trip to the Dallas zoo! My Aunt Sarah gave me the idea to let her pull of a ring each morning she has "gone to bed like a big girl". So far it is working very well. We have had a few bad nights but most of them have gone very well. She is excited about the zoo but more than anything I think she likes the structure and routine. I'm not going to lie it's tough and leaves very little time for Trey and me to chill, but when she is down by 8:30 nothing is better than that. It all starts with dinner at 6:00 sharp (I have been cooking every night and have some new easy recipes to share soon), then straight to bath, jammies and brushing teeth, a short playtime upstairs before our one book and lights out. She still insists on listening to her Christmas CD, I'm sure she will have all the songs memorized by next Christmas. I took a few pictures of our bedtime monster and her reward system I crafted. Keep in mind she was a great sleeper until shortly after her 2nd Birthday...that's when everything started changing.

The HAYDEN Project {52 weeks of baby love}

I know I have mentioned my weekly photo project in several posts...finally I am ready to start posting the pictures for everyone to see. I'm naming my project The Hayden Project {52 weeks of baby love}

My sweet baby Hayden is growing like a weed and since she will likely be my last child I am trying to cherish every minute of this baby stage. I cannot take credit for this idea it's something I came across online and fell in love with it. The idea of photographing her each week for the first year to document her changes was something I really wanted to do. Let's face it, this blog and pictures is all this child is going to have. I don't own a baby book for her...oops! I also loved the idea of the different pieces of fabric each week. You will notice my photos are getting better week by week, as I've had time to play with the lighting, camera settings & where to shoot her in my very dark house. I am still in no way a professional but I will cherish these pictures for years to come. If I would ever learn how to edit a picture I might go back and attempt that on a few of these. I plan to add an album to my side bar and continue to add them week by week. I still can't believe how fast 15 weeks has gone! Enjoy my sweet baby Hayden, her chunky little thighs and that infectious smile!

Last week I decided to take Hayden back to the doctor to see if there is something more than reflux that is causing the massive amounts of spit up. They decided to send us for an ultrasound of her tummy just to make sure everything looked normal. We got a call that everyone on the ultrasound looked normal and since she is gaining weight (lots of weight) they are not concerned at this time. We are keeping her on the reflux medicine which doesn't stop the spitting up it just helps neutralize the tummy acids so it doesn't burn. We have tried everything we know to try to stop the spit up or at least minimize it. If any Moms have advice please leave me a comment. I am willing to try everything.

In the mean time we are starting her on some rice cereal at night to see if the thicker food stays down better. Of course her big sister was very eager to start feeding her.

Granddad called the other day to tell Landry he got a couple new puppies. When she heard that she wanted to go visit them right away. They are super cute. This kiddo loves animals, especially puppies. He says he is only keeping one of them...we'll see!

Our Cotton Bowl Weekend

I know...I know...you will notice lots of purple in these pics. I had to let them in my house...they're family! If you didn't know both of my parents grew up in Kansas, the majority of my Mom's family still lives there and many of my family members attend or have attended K-State. As for Julie she must just like the color purple since she attended TCU! :)

Angie and Thatcher came to visit for the weekend. We always have a great time with them, although I'm not sure they are going to want to stay with us ever again. Poor Thatcher might not ever want to have kids after being around my girls for 72 hours. Landry was in one of her "moods" most of the time, and to top it off was not sleeping at all. We found out late Saturday night she had a double ear infection...probably the reason for the terrible behavior. Hayden wasn't bad but she did decide to blow out a diaper and totally wreck her car seat at dinner. Thatcher got a good look at that mess before I crammed her back in her seat and made a mad dash to the restroom. Welcome to our crazy life!

We also got to meet up with Sadie, The Dennett's, Lara & the Hahn's. Since Steve works for AT&T in Kansas they had a very busy but fun week.

The good news...Our HOGS WON!!! Woo PIG!!! Thanks for coming guys, we had a blast.

I'm catching up...

After celebrating and early Christmas in Texas with Trey's family we headed to Arkansas to spend time with my family. We spent Christmas Eve at my Dad's house with the Garman side of the family. We had a great time. The next morning we woke up to lots of goodies from Santa at JoJo's house. Papa and JoJo cooked an awesome Christmas dinner that night. Landry informed everyone she got a stomach ache from opening too many presents. Next year only 1 "or 2" as she said.

We had a great trip, of course the birth of Baby Avery was also a highlight. I was able to see many good friends and spend lots of time with family. It was a great time but I am glad life is somewhat back to normal.

Some day Hayden is going to yell at me and say, "why the heck didn't you stop her!"
I'll just tell her it builds character.

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season with friends and family. I still cannot believe another year has come and gone. The last couple of days Trey and I have been working to compile a slideshow of photos that will reflect on the year we have had as a family. Boy...we sure had a lot of fun. It's amazing to look back and see how much Miss L has changed in 1 year. I might have to start doing this every year.

As for resolutions...I have chosen not to have any this year. When I make resolutions I never do what I say I am going to do, so instead of resolution here are a few things I would like to do BETTER in 2012!

Introducing Miss Avery Flynn

More pink for my family because I have a brand new niece! Miss Avery Flynn was born on December 27th at 3:30 pm. She was 7lbs. 6oz. and 20 1/4 inches long. December 27th will be a busy day for birthdays in our family since Avery now shares a birthday with her Daddy & her Great Grand Father (Papa Dean). Jessie and Avery are doing great, they have already gone home. My girls were so excited to meet their newest cousin, Landry has been talking about her non stop. I am looking forward to all the memories we will have of them growing up together, especially Avery and Hayden. They are 2 days shy of exactly 3 months apart. Hayden got her picture taken with Avery in the hospital and she looked like quite the brut next to her. She was over a pound bigger at birth and hasn't seem to slow down yet.

I just love this time of year, we are so blessed and have such a wonderful friends & families to celebrate the holidays with. Our first Christmas was spent in Plano with Trey's family. The girls had a great time even though they missed seeing their cousins this year. Trey's grandmother Mom Mom was to meet her 8th great grandchild. I got few great pictures of her with Hayden.

Mom Mom is 89 years young and still as spunky as ever.

The next night we had a brief visit from our favorite twin boys. I just love seeing this little kiddos grow up together.

Adventures of Jingle (our Elf)

First of all...I cannot believe I never posted this. I just found these pictures sitting on my computer and realized I never posted about of Elf breakfast.

I have been obsessed with Pintrest over the last several months and while surfing I stumbled across the idea to have a welcome breakfast for your Elf on the Shelf. We had Jingle last year but I wasn't sure Landry remember who he (now a she) was so I thought this breakfast idea might be fun. Jingle is our ~~Boy~~ Girl Elf who is now sporting a skirt since we are a house full of girls (sorry Trey). So, on the weekend of Thanksgiving after Landry went to bed I set the table for a big welcome breakfast for the girls, complete with reindeer donuts, breakfast casserole, coffee cake and small gifts for the girls from Jingle herself. Landry had a good time and has enjoyed hunting for Jingle each morning. I look forward to her excitement in the coming years once she really starts remembering the magic of Christmas.

Here is a few of the silly places we have found jingle around the house. Next year I plan to get really creative with Jingle because Landry is really beginning to understand the concept.

Last week Landry had her last dance class until the new year. This was their special Nutcracker performance. I use the word "performance" very loosely. They were supposed to wear a costume, at the beginning of class Heather read them the story of the Nutcracker. She then had them act out several scenes from the book. Then they asked all the parents to join the class so we could watch them "perform" those scenes as the teacher read the book. JoJo happened to be in town so she got to see our little ballerina in action. Lets just say, the recital in June should be very interesting.

She doesn't even want to pretend to go to sleep when it is part of the routine.

Our Annual Santa Party

We did it! We survived another ~~Breakfast~~ Evening with Santa at our house. I started this tradition 3 years ago for our neighborhood and a few other close friends who make the drive to attend. I have always intended to make this a Breakfast with Santa event but this year when I called to book Santa in September he was already booked all weekends in December. I could not just skip a year so I decided we would try the evening party this year. The kids didn't seem to mind, they still got to see Santa. Many thought I was nuts for even attempting a party this year with Hayden being just 10 weeks old but we called for reinforcements...that being JoJo. Trey told me we would cancel the party if JoJo was unable to attend. Good thing baby Avery stayed but long enough for JoJo to get here (help a ton) and get back to Arkansas. Either my house is shrinking or everyone keeps having more kids (I think it is the second one) because I feel like we are running out of space. It always seems to go so fast but we will plan to do it again next year!

At first Landry was a little scared of the Big Guy but once present time came she was more than willing to get her gift and a quick photo. Hayden was a "little" upset. It had more to do with the fact that she was hungry than who was holding her. Still...makes for a classic first Santa picture.

Before Santa leaves he always hands out candy canes and tells the kids about how the candy cane really stands for Jesus and teaches them how to hold it correctly. Miss L nows says, "J is for Jesus" all the time. I am sure Jessie and JoJo will have something to say about that.

Don't forget to give him your list...Scooter, Doll, new blue Doll carrier! Sure hope she has been a good girl.

Happy Birthday to our Awesome JoJo! Trey and I cannot possibly tell you enough how lucky we are to have you in our lives. Our girls adore you and we could not ask for a better Grandma and roll model for them. I am pretty sure JoJo is Landry's favorite person and if Hayden could talk I am sure she would agree. Thank you for everything you do for us on a daily basis. You're the best Mom!

A potential tragic event ALMOST took place in the Whitehead family garage. It all started when I arrived home around 6 pm last night and noticed our Christmas lights were not working. I went outside and fiddled with the timer but nothing happened so I just assumed with the rain they blew a fuse and decided to wait until Trey returned from San Antonio to investigate. After dinner I promised Landry some ice cream, when I went out in the garage to retrieve the "spiced pumpkin pecan" Blue Bell (if you haven't had it you should...it's amazing) from the freezer I noticed it was not as cold as normal and the ice cream had begun to melt. I just figured our old fridge had finally bit the dust. I immediately began taking things out of our freezer to put into the deep freeze which as been taken over with my MILK supply when I noticed that was not working either. I PANICKED!!! If you know me you know my milk supply is a true gift from god! It is considered liquid gold in this house. It was ALL beginning to melt. I called Trey and told him what was happening. He came to the rescue and knew exactly what to tell me to do. Apparently the rain had shorted out the christmas lights and when that happened they tripped the breaker in the garage which happens to be the same outlet our freezer and fridge are plugged into. WOW!!!! What a nightmare that would have been. Moral of the story...thank God for ice cream!!!

Now...for those who have not been here to see this supply in person here is a picture of my stash. This picture does not do it justice. I estimate there is about 2 1/2 months worth of milk for Miss H. And keep in mind I only pump once or twice a day. Sign me up for the state fair...I am a true Momma cow!

Our sweet baby Hayden is growing up so fast. I promise I have more updates coming about Miss H it is just hard to find the time in our crazy busy schedule. She is 11 weeks today and has been sleeping through the night since 8 weeks (a full 10 to 11 hours). Yes, she is SUPER BABY! She is an eater, rarely takes a bottle but when we have to give her one she does great. Her only issue is a terrible case of reflux which has me doing laundry several times a day. Now if we could just get her sister to eat good and sleep (or go to sleep without issue) it would be a miracle. As you can see Landry loves her sister and is a big help.

holiday house tour...

I am finally getting around to posting pictures of my christmas decorations. I have had several very nice comments on decorations that have been pictured in the background of pictures of the girls etc. Thank you for all the sweet comments, decorating for Christmas is one of my passions. I just love turning our house into a winter wonder land or "winner woner wan" as Landry would say. I only had the energy for 2 trees this year, the dining room tree never made it up. I guess with having a 2 month old I have a good excuse. Here are the three key rules I follow when decorating or shopping for Christmas decorations.
1. Shop after Christmas for the next year (never pay full price). I love to shop at the specitality christmas store but they are so expensive before Christmas. After Christmas everything is at least 50% off and much more affordable. But this does require you to plan ahead and NOT spend all your christmas cash before hand.

2. Deco Mesh, Deco Mesh, Deco Mesh. This stuff is the greatest invention. It cuts down on the amount of ornaments your tree needs, it looks great on garland and wreaths.

3. Ribbon...and lots of it. I love to make big bows and use lots of ribbon. My favorite place to shop for Ribbon is Sam's Club. The last few years they have had some great ribbons, not to mention tons on each roll. They have also started selling the deco mesh. I usually get a couple rolls of my favorites so I have some for the following year.

I did something a little different with my front door this year. I found this cute Santa at Hobby Lobby and my first intentions for him were to put him in the center of a wreath. Once I got him home I loved the way he looked all by himself on the front door. I alway do the garland around the door but this year I strayed from my usual red and lime green and opted for a candy cane theme. I was really happy with the way it turned out.

Landry's Christmas decor...

Other than making a few wreaths for other people this was my only "crafty" christmas project this year. I bought all these colorful balls on clearance last year after Christmas so I could make a wreath for Landry room. These colors go great in her new big girl room.

Last night we had our annual holiday "couples" bunco party at the Dennett's house. We started this tradition last year instead of a neighborhood holiday party we would just incorporate the guys into our monthly bunco game. I think at first the idea of bunco did not have the guys excited but quickly their competitive nature came out and trust me they want to win way more than us girls. I was the big winner in our family and came home with over $70 bucks...target here I come. We decided to add a make shift photo booth to spice things up. As you can see we had a blast with all the holiday props.

I had a little fun today with Miss H during our weekly photo shoot. Yes, I have been taking weekly photos of her on different fabrics each week. My plan is to post them all but I am still working on getting all the weeks organized etc. I promise I will get right on that after this crazy Christmas season is over.

I am using these photo props for our couples holiday bunco party tonight and decided I would have some fun with Hayden since she is a willing participant. Enjoy the FUN pictures. I am sure the adult party pics will be just as good.

Hog Game

Well...we all know now it didn't turn out like we had hoped! Poor Hogs! All in all it was a great season. This was the first football season since I can remember that we have not gone to a single game. I guess being 9 months pregnant and having a newborn are good excuses, we will be back next year. We might even take Miss L to her first game (if she's lucky). We watched the game in style across the street with the Dennett's, it's crazy that Amanda and I both grew up in Arkansas and ended up living across the street from each other. It's nice to have neighbors that don't mind my obnoxious hog flag flying out front. Both of my girls were on their best behavior until after the game, I think they were feeling the pain of the entire HOG NATION.

We even recruited Brooks to be a Hog fan for the day since his Ducks lost the week before.

Disney on Ice

The Walker girls invited us to Disney on Ice at the Allen Event Center. Since we were staying in town for Thanksgiving I thought this would be a good treat for Landry and something we could do together. A girls date is what we called it. I wasn't sure if she would understand the story lines since she hasn't seen most of the Disney movies, but she loved it anyway. I could not believe she was able to pay attention the entire time. She was very impressed that Minnie was wearing the same dress as her in the final number, I hated to tell her she was the one dressed like Minnie. Aren't these two the cutest Disney characters you have ever seen.

Our Thanksgiving Day was pretty low key...that is if you ignored about all the moody, crying children. We spent the day with the Johnson Family and thought we would have a relaxing holiday. Between all 4 of our children someone was either crying, wining or tattling the entire time. I knew we were in trouble when about 11 am Landry started to get into one of her clingy moods. Bottom line...the kid was tired but she doesn't want to hear that unless you plan to lay down with her. I hate these moods, they always come on when Trey and I are trying to get things done around the house. Once Landry finally settled down it was Hayden's turn. Of course, she was hungry right as I was fixing my plate to sit down and eat. Not even a screaming kid is going to stop me from my Thanksgiving feast! Then it was Blakey's turn, poor little guy is teething like crazy so he was one unhappy camper. Not to mention the two older kids are not great about including him in their activities. Poor Blake! In between all of this you have the usual Landry v.s Cole fight over a particular toy. You know...just your typical kid stuff. So as you can see from the family picture below...this is the best we could do. And NO...I wasn't even drinking at this point! Thank you to the Johnson for spending the day with us, I am sure we will have many more holidays together in the future.

almost turkey time

I have been very bad about posting these last couple of weeks because I have been fully involved in trying to get my house ready for Christmas. Yes, I know it is not even Thanksgiving yet but I like to have it done so after Thanksgiving I can just enjoy the month of December. This year it looks like my big tree is going to have to wait until after turkey day to get beautified...I am just running out of time and need to focus on my turkey. We decided to stay home for Thanksgiving this year, Trey's family invited us to Houston but as you all know traveling with 2 young kiddos is NOT an easy task. Since we are heading to Arkansas for Christmas and our return date is TBD upon Baby Thompson we thought it would be best to stay home. Our good friends The Johnson's are also in town with no family so we are having Brooks, Katie, Cole & Blakey over of dinner. Kids can play, guys can watch football and Katie and I can figure out what we need to go shopping for next :). I am sure I will have lots of fun pictures to post so stay tuned. I will also post some pictures of the wreaths I have been working on. Here are a few pictures of the girls from this last week!

Landry's favorite twins came and stayed with us a couple weeks ago. Steve's grandmother passed away so they made a quick trip to Dallas. This was the first time they met Baby Hayden...the funny thing is the boy still call Landry "Baby Landry". Landry doesn't seem to mind, anyone else she would probably correct them but not her boys they can call her anything. They are coming back before Christmas and we are hoping they stay a couple days. We miss them!

Last night I was able to go out to dinner with my girlfriends thanks to my wonderful husband who was willing to roll solo at home for the evening. Having both girls by yourself in the evening is not an easy task. This is typically Hayden's fussiest time of the day and Landry is always a challenge when it comes to bedtime. We have been working on Landry for about six months now, we have good weeks and bad weeks. Bottom line...the girl doesn't like to go to bed, Trey says she is exactly like he was and still is. As for Hayden, we are still working on getting her on a good schedule in the evening. If she were the only child we would probably have this already mastered but because we have to focus on Miss L poor Hayden's schedule is always changing. She is still sleeping great at night once she is down which is what I really care about.

Before I went out last night Trey took a very rare picture of me and BOTH girls, it almost didn't happen then someone remembered the BIG guy is watching...he he he!

Hayden had a great day today, she is finally starting to show us her little personality. After her afternoon nap she was in a great mood so I was able to get some pictures of her and her cute smile. I am also happy to report that she slept ALL night last night. I am sure this was just a fluke and will not happen again for some time but for the most part she is a great sleeper. I usually get at least 1 five hour stretch durning the night...I will take what I can get. Last night it was more like 6 1/2 hours. If you can't tell by now it's nearly impossible for me to photograph both of my children together. If Landry is up for pictures Hayden is sleeping, if Hayden is happy Landry is typically in some sort of a mood or at school. I'm sure they will get them on the same page soon. But it's nice to give Hayden some blog LOVE, we love our sweet little baby H!!!

Typically she is either sleeping, eating or fussing. She does a lot of sleeping which is a good thing for Mom and Dad. She looks so much like me as a baby it's scary.

It's official we have a little Ballerina in our house! Yesterday was a very exciting day for Miss L, the first day of ballet class. When I arrived at Mrs. Kelly's to pick her up she was so excited she could hardly stand it. We changed into her ballet clothes at Kelly's so she loved showing her outfit off to the other kiddos. This girl loves attention!!! I was a little nervous we would get there and she would be too scared to go in the class without me. That was not the case at all...she loved it! Now we have a June recital to look forward to...that should be very entertaining! I snapped a few pictures with my phone of her in the class, I didn't want to be that crazy mom with my big camera out on her first day. But in the coming weeks I promise I will take my camera and get some better pictures of her in action.

Our Saturday morning started with a very fun birthday party at our neighbors house. Our new neighbor Ryder turned 2 a few weeks ago and his parents gave him a choo choo train party complete with an actual train for the kids to ride. This party was originally planned for the weekend we were in Arkansas but poor little Ryder got sick so the party was postponed. I must say...I am glad we didn't miss this fun event. The Morgan's live next door to us so Landry watched out the window all morning for the train to arrive, she let us know when it was time to go to the party. As you can see from the photos even Mommy and Daddy got to ride the choo choo!

Last night we had a Whitehead family date night. A sweet friend of mine offered us tickets to the Celina balloon festival. Since we tried to attend the Plano festival in September and were rained out the entire weekend we decided we would take Landry to see the balloons in Celina. She loves "HOT BALLOONS"! This is a much smaller festival but it was perfect for us since we didn't plan to be there long. It is finally feeling like fall in Texas and was pretty chilly last night, so we bundled up and headed north for the evening. The balloons were extremely close to us and I had the wrong camera lens on for the occasion but I did manage to get a few shots. btw...Hayden was great, she slept the entire time in her little cacoon. She is a little angel and just like her sister she prefers to be on the go.

Trick or Treating...the finale to our busy Halloween weekend! Last night we had perfect fall weather to be outside enjoying our neighborhood. Everyone gathers at the end of our street to start the evening then disperses rather quickly to gather a much candy as possible. This was the first year Landry was actually aware of what was happening. We met up with her best buddy Raelee (also known to Landry as Sue Sue) so they could go door to door together in Raelee's red wagon. I was a little worried as the evening started because we suffered a knee scrape on the curb, something this tragic could likely derail the entire evening. Miss L limped to the wagon and up to the doorstep of the first house, after receiving that first piece of candy she told me her boo boo was healing. Hmmm...just what I thought...a little candy can heal anything. Too bad candy can't cure cancer, maybe doctors should look into that!!!

Hayden was such a good sport playing the part of little LOVE BUG, she hung with us until about 7:30 when she decided it was time for her to eat. JoJo told me by the time she got back to the house Hayden was in a fit of rage. At that point JoJo realized she was in a straight jacket that she couldn't seem to get out of. I guess it would be smart of me to teach JoJo how to remove the Baby Bjorn before leaving her alone with a hungry upset baby strapped to her body...oops :)

Overall it was a fantastic weekend...A huge THANK YOU to JoJo for staying to help with the craziness. I can't wait to plan next years costumes for my TWO dress up dolls, maybe we can do a family theme...you will have to wait and see.

I told you we had a busy weekend. My neighborhood HOA puts on a festival every fall complete with a petting zoo, bounce house, pony rides and costume contest. Miss L didn't win the costume contest but she did look super cute in her Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader uniform. I received "criticism" last time I posted pics of L's uniform for not having white boots or pom poms to complete the outfit. Well...I fixed that problem with a little white spray paint for the boots and digging up some old Mountie pom poms from back in the day. Presto...we have a complete cheerleader. Too bad her Cowboy spirit didn't help the team play better :(. Let's just say it was a really bad sports weekend for Daddy! Enjoy the pictures.

A Spooktacular Party

Last year my bunco group started the tradition of having a big Halloween get together for our kids. We all chip in to rent a big bounce house throw in some food and drinks and have ourselves a spooktacular good time. After the party all the adults head over to Michelle's house for her annual adult Halloween party. Since JoJo was in town Trey and I enjoyed the evening out. There were many classic moments I won't soon forget!

To kick off our Halloween weekend Mom and I attended Landry's Halloween party at Mrs. Kelly's house. About a month ago, after I had already purchased her Halloween costume, Landry informed me that her, Brooke & Raelee we all going to be Tinker Bell. Hmmm...this was news to me. I knew Trey would kill me if I went out and purchased another costume, but then I remembered that Cousin Kamryn had given us one of her old costumes. JoJo made some alterations so it would fit Landry better, I added some wings and a green flower for her hair and POOF...we have a cute little Tinker Bell Princess!!! And everyone was happy!

Mrs. Kelly always does a fantastic job keeping these kiddos entertained at parties. She had games for them to play and even a "pumpkin hunt", you can see from the photo Landry was VERY excited about finding her pumpkin and the stickers hidden inside. Party #1 & costume #1 down, 3 more days of Halloween fun to go!

Happy Halloween from the Whitehead Family! This was the extent of our Halloween decorations this year...maybe next year I will aim for something inside. I am just saving all my energy for Christmas which I will be starting in a couple weeks...YIKES!

Fun on the Ranch

Last weekend while in Arkansas we attended a baby shower for Aunt Jessie and Uncle Ty Ty. We had gorgeous weather and it was a perfect day for an outdoor shower at Tyler's family ranch. Jess and Ty were showered with love and lots of great gifts for Baby Girl Thompson. We can't wait to meet her. Landry got to drive around the ranch with Ty Ty and look at all the animals, she told me she was going to look for an elephant. Seems like we are a little confused between the zoo and the ranch but that is okay!

We drove to Arkansas last weekend to attend two baby showers for Jessie and visit family and friends who hadn't met baby Hayden. Landry is very excited to meet her new GIRL cousin who will be making her way into this world in late December or early January. Jessie and Ty Ty don't have a name picked out yet, but there are several good ones in the running. Landry was a huge help at Jessie's shower, even got tired of opening gifts (probably because she realized they weren't for her to keep). We had a great week in Arkansas but are happy to be home...we are now destroying our house instead of JoJo & Papa's.

Last week (while the weather was still VERY warm) we took the girls to pick out pumpkins for our front porch. Since we didn't feel like tackling a pumpkin patch with both girls, we decided to support a local church and buy a couple of the pumpkins they had for sale. As far as Miss L knew this was the pumpkin patch, this plan might not work next year. I was suprised which pumpkin she decided to pick out for herself (photo below), she also picked out a tiny one for Hayden. Landry is still in ahhh of her baby sister and wants to help out as much as possible. I am waiting for the tide to turn but so far she has done great with her.

Our trip to the Texas State Fair

The Texas State Fair is held in Dallas every year and lasts basically the entire month of October. I told Trey when I was pregnant that I really wanted to take Landry this year, I am pretty sure I was craving some of that yummy fried food. He wasn't that excited but agreed Landry would probably enjoy seeing all the animals so we decided to head to fair park on Friday afternoon. The weather was perfect and Landry was on her best behavior. She told us on the way home her favorite part was seeing the animals and the "coaster".

Baby Hayden was such the trooper, only 2 weeks old and her first trip to the fair.

This cow loved Landry and kept trying to lick her...she was NOT amused.

Lady Bugs was the first "coaster" Landry has been on. Of course it just went in a circle but I am here to tell you it when surprisingly fast. We did not see it in action before we decided she would ride. I was a little worried once it started going but Daddy said she loved it.

Welcome Home Hayden! I have been meaning to post these pictures for a week now...I am finally getting some blogging time in between feedings. We are so excited to have both our precious girls at home now, everyone is adjusting surprisingly well. Landry told me today she is glad baby sister finally "Popped" out of my tummy. She loves her so much. I don't want to wish this infant stage away (since there is a GOOD chance this will be my last baby) but I can't wait to see the girls interact with each other. For everyone wondering where Hayden got her dark hair...check out my baby pictures. I was born with a full head of dark hair until about 8 months of age when I decided life might be more fun being a Blonde! :) Mom has said from the minute she saw Hayden that she looked just like me and Jessie as babies, so she went home and dug up some old baby pics. I have said all along this baby is going to be a Momma's girl...I guess if not at least we will look alike!

We survived the first week with our new baby girl. As you can see from these pictures there is a common theme...sleep. Hayden has been doing lots of sleeping. For the first part of the week her days and nights were mixed up, but we are slowly starting to correct that problem. I was told to wake her for feedings every 3 hours, but at night I just have trouble doing that when she is sleeping so soundly so we have been going 4 to 5 hours between feedings at night. She appears to be gaining weight so I don't think thats a problem. Hayden is a great eater, unlike her big sister. She tends to eat a little too much at times and makes herself sick, but that is just something that is in her Garman genes...we all do it! Overall she is a GREAT baby and I already cannot imagine life without this precious little girl.

Big sister Landry is adjusting very well, she absolutely LOVES her baby sister and is so excited to help us take care of her. I promise I will video our diaper changing routine. Landry is VERY involved in the process and it is so funny. She always tells me, "Mom, I 'm a big helper!"

Finally...Landry has her real life dress up doll! We have set some boundaries with her on what she can and can't do with Hayden and so far she is doing really well. We have had a couple melt downs at times when she "thought" she was getting to put her baby in the car seat or stroller not the Hayden. Other than that we have been really impressed with the way she has been adjusting to sibling life. We came home on Saturday morning and by Saturday afternoon Landry had a fever, runny nose and was coughing on everything and everyone. That was a little stressful given we have just brought home a 48 hour old newborn into a germ infested house. We couldn't keep Landry from wanting to be around her sister so JoJo convinced her to wear the hospital mask the nurses gave her and bought Landry her own bottle of hand sanitizer to carry around. This has seemed to help, at least she is using it so we are killing "some" germs!!! Trey took her to the doctor on Sunday and she has a good ole sinus infection so we are now on an antibiotic.

As far as Baby Hayden goes she is doing GREAT! When we left the hospital she was a little jaundice, which worried us because Landry was the same way when we left the hospital and ended up spending 3 days in a "tanning bed" to get rid of it. We did not want to go through this again so we really increased her feedings and gave her a little time in the sun and this has seemed to do the trick. We went back to the doctors office today for her post birth check up and her weight (which had dropped to 8 lbs) was back up to 8 lbs 2.5oz which was a good increase for 24 hours. The "Mommy MILK truck" has arrived! Hayden has had very few feeding issues and just like with Landry it seems I could feed a small village in Africa with my milk supply. The nights are long but we are hanging in there. I will try my best to keep the updates coming.

We officially arrived home on Saturday morning as a family of FOUR! I still cannot believe I have two precious girls but I sure feel better now that Hayden is out. This was a long, HOT pregnancy and towards the end I was pretty miserable. But...I am sure like everything that goes along with pregnancy I will end up forgetting about all the bad parts and just remember the little miracle I get to take home.

Miss Hayden Taylor made her entrance into the world at 6:08 pm on September 29th. It was a very easy labor that consisted of 2 pushes. From the looks and sounds of her she is not going to let anyone treat her like the "little sister". She has been using her voice quite well, and is already a much better eater than Landry. She looks nothing like her big sister at this point, she is much more "Garman" than Landry with lots of dark hair, which is exactly what both Jess and I had at birth. Everyone is doing great! Big Sister Landry could not be more excited to have a new baby sister. The first thing Landry said when she saw her was, "she has black hair!" I know she can't wait to get her home and play with her. Baby Hayden Day is almost here! I just went to my final doctors appointment today and everything looks good. We will head to the hospital at 5:30 tomorrow morning to start the induction process. If all goes as planned we should have a new Baby Girl by mid afternoon tomorrow. JoJo has been in town since Sunday afternoon to help with Landry and to help get the final chores done before Baby Hayden arrives. She has been tending to Landry (actually Landry doesn't want anything to do with her parents right now, only JoJo) taking her to preschool, cooking and cleaning. Oh...and lots of laundry!

Last night Trey and I got one final dinner and a movie date night. It was nice to just get away for a while. We splurged and went to the fancy iPic movie theater here in Allen that has recliners so I could keep my swollen feet up! I will post pics on the blog as soon as we have our newest addition.

Miss Landry has been having a little fun while we prepare for the arrival of her new sister. We have been trying to get her outdoors as much as possible since we know those days will be limited soon. Trey has been taking her on bike rides to the park and she has even taken up jogging this week. Yes jogging...she insisted on going on a jog this morning before pre school, and she runs the entire way around the block. Silly girl. My girlfriends in Dallas showered me with so much love on Saturday with a baby shower brunch at Jasper's. It was such a great way to spend my Saturday morning. The food and company were both amazing. Hayden is already one ~~spoiled~~ lucky girl, I received so many cute girly things for her. I have been saying for weeks I feel like she could come any day and Katie kept telling me...after the 10th. We are past the 10th now so I think we are ready whenever she decides to make her big debut.

I am so lucky to live in a great neighborhood and work with such great girls. I love everyone of you (some who aren't pictured) and I thank you all so much for making me feel so special. Love you all!

I had to have another baby just to get some famous Sara Warner handmade blankets. I have been giving her grief for 2 1/2 years at every baby shower. Her machine was broken when Landry was born so she wasn't making them. Thank goodness she got it fixed in time for Hayden's arrival. Sara...Hayden will love them.

Hayden doesn't know it but she will have an arranged marriage with Baby Gavin Johnson, he is due to make his arrival on Dec. 1st. I hope he likes older chicks!

The name game

We have OFFICIALLY decided on a name for the newest member of The Whitehead Family. Naming your child might be one of the more overwhelming tasks of pregnancy. The first time was fairly easy for me...I knew I wanted Landry. The hard part then was knowing if Landry was going to be a Girl or a Boy...hmmmm! Well we all know how that turned out! This time there was more to consider. I didn't want to use an L name because we call Landry Miss L, and that would be confusing if I had two girls called Miss L. Secondly, how well did it flow with Landry, you would be surprised there are many names that don't flow well especially names that end in y or ie. And lastly I preferred a gender neutral name since that is what we gave Landry. So after much debate we have decided on....

Hayden Taylor Whitehead

Hayden because I have always loved it and Taylor after my grandmother Virginia Marie Taylor.

Who doesn't love America's Team!!! This is a big night in our house, it's the kickoff to Daddy's favorite time of year...Football Season! Landry has become quite the Cheerleader, although we still have a little work to do. When she put this uniform on today she said, "GO COWBOYS....Razorbacks!" A little mixed up but not bad for a 2 year old! Now I just need to find some white boots to complete the outfit. I am off to stuff my face with some yummy football food! Go Cowboys!!!

First Day of Preschool

It's official...we have a preschooler! I am not sure what she was more excited about...wearing her backpack or finally getting a chance to use her scissors. This little girl is anxious to learn, who am I to stop her. I just hope she continues to like school more than her Mom and Dad did. Maybe she will be like Mimi and not be able to get enough of it. Right now she is a sponge and anything you tell her she will remember. We have to be very careful what we say because she is understanding more and more. Finally...a break in the heat

I cannot even begin to tell you how much better the temperatures feel here in Texas. We're ending the HOTTEST month in Dallas history and I am here to tell you it was miserable! On Sunday the temps were in the 90's but very windy so Trey took Landry out to the field across the street to fly her kite. He remembered just what to do and the kite was up and flying in no time. Miss ~~Priss~~ L didn't last long because the "sun was in her eyes!" Oh well...it was fun while it lasted. Sunday night Trey informed me we were getting a "Cool Front" and we should see some great weather. Boy was he right! We woke up to temps in the 60's, had breakfast on the patio and literally played outside ALL day. It was a great day...aside from the fact that I am so very pregnant and can barely move.

I am having lots of Braxton Hicks contractions now and my abdominal muscles have just about had it. I'm really sore and feel like I have been doing sit ups when we all know that is NOT the case. I only have 2 more weeks at work so it will be a nice relief to know I can just sit at home with my feet up for the final days. The plan for now is that I will be induced on September 29th if she hasn't come by then. My bet is she is coming early but who knows? Enjoy the pictures...

It's that time of year again, time for some college football. It's no surprise what team we will be cheering for again this year. Landry has almost mastered the Hog Call...hopefully I can get it on video this year. I hope we get to Fayetteville for a game this year but with Baby #2 coming in a few weeks I don't know if that is going to be possible. We will have to wait and see. Baby Thompson???

Most of you know by now but my sister Jessie is also expecting a baby. She is due 3 months after me (early Jan) and a couple weeks ago it was time to find out the gender of Baby Thompson. Jessie decided she wanted to do something fun with family and friends that would make finding out the gender of the baby exciting for everyone. She mentioned a reveal party to Mom and that was it! Next thing we knew Mom had a giant refrigerator box, had wrapped it and letters were attached. You did a great job Mom! I was bummed it was during the week so I was unable to attend but I did receive photos and video so it felt like I was there.

For the record...Had I been there I would have for sure been wearing PINK! I have been saying GIRL since day 1. Not that all pregnancies are the same but Jessie's pregnancy has be absolutely identical to both of mine so I just assumed how could it be anything but a girl.

A few things to note before watching the video:

Jessie asked guests to dress in either pink or blue to reflect their guess...you will notice many more BOY guesses than GIRL.

Mom assured me that my step dad Jim was going to be in charge of taking pictures. As you can see in the video, he was too busy celebrating his victory. NOTICE the camera in the air while he celebrates.

And lastly...my poor Dad...was ~~stuck~~ blessed with two wonderful daughters of his own and now at least 3 more little girls. You will notice his comments about being a "Tom Boy" at the end of the video. How is he ever going to survive???

Carousel Fun

Anyone that lives in the North Dallas area has been to this kiddie attraction...it is the Carousel at Stonebriar Mall. These horses are quickly becoming one of Landry's favorite things to do. After our class last Saturday we hit the mall for a little retail therapy. I told Landry if she was good we would take a quick ride on the carousel. She was on her best behavior so she got the reward I promised. You can tell from these pictures she was being quite the ham in front of the camera. Enjoy!

Preparing to be a BIG SISTER

As part of our preparation for baby #2 to arrive I enrolled Landry into a sibling class at the hospital. We called it "Big Sister" class! Trey was out of town on his annual golf trip so it was a girls weekend and what a better way to spend it than practicing our Big Sister skills. Landry did great in the class, everyone that knows her know she LOVES babies. Almost too much! She is such a little Momma she has begun to get us worried about what she is going to attempt with our new arrival.

The class started with craft time, she made a sign that will hang on the babies bassinet in the hospital. This was the first time we have allowed her to use markers so you can imagine her excitement. We watched a short video about the new baby and how she might feel once the new baby is home. Then we practiced holding and swaddling the baby and finally the class ended with a tour of the hospital and a peek into the nursery. I was worried that if her first trip to a hospital was seeing me in a hospital bed she might be a little scared. Now she at least knows what the rooms look like etc.

The preparations have begun...let's just hope we didn't start to late this time and we can get everything done before she arrives.

Landry is going to be starting preschool 5 days a week in September with Miss Kelly. She has been talking about Brooke's crayon box for a year now and she finally got to get one of her own. Kelly gave me her school supply list last week which consisted of: glue (2 types), twistable crayons, safety scissors & of course a box. Landry insisted we go to the store right away and pick up the needed supplies. She obsessed over "organizing" this box for 2 nights, I finally insisted we go ahead and take it to Kelly's house in preparation for the Sept. 1st start of preschool. I don't think I could take another month of "color box" talk and organization. I did manage to get a picture of her with the box (we even decorated it with stickers). As you can see she is one proud little girl!

I just realized that Madie was close by in both pictures. She doesn't let us get too far from her these days. You will also notice the new living room addition of a soccer goal...Yes, this was a Daddy purchase. Trey brought this home right after I told him I enrolled her in dance class. He is bound to have an athlete...even if it is a girl!

Pool time with the Walker Family

Trey was out of town all last week for a work training...literally all week Sunday thru late late Friday night (basically early Sat. morning). Needless to say it was a long week for this Momma acting as both parents and still going to work. Landry was on her best behavior which helped. One day we were on speaker in the car talking to JoJo and Landry chimed in, "JoJo, Trey's in Boston!" We both laughed, then I tried to explain to her that she calls him Daddy not Trey. I think she must of heard me say it so many times on the phone that she felt the need to tell JoJo herself. You better watch what you say around Miss L...it will be repeated.

Since I was all alone this week the Walker's invited us over for an afternoon swim at their neighborhood pool. Landry loves their pool because it has a big slide. Only problem, there was NO DADDY to go with her so it was up to me. After she went down 5 times we made her stop, luckily Kelly volunteered a couple of times which allowed me to take a break. After the pool we all went to dinner and it just so happened to be Kids Karaoke Night at the local sports bar. Reese was in heaven and was brave enough to hop on stage and sing a couple songs...even though she can't read. She did great!

Baby Jack is getting so big, he will be ONE before we know it...time sure does fly. Check out his teeth...I know who would make a stinkin cute vampire this Halloween. Gotta love the fangs! Now that Kelly and I no longer work together we have to make time to see each other outside of the office. This was a good first week...we managed to see each other at least once.

Trying to stay cool

We are doing our best to stay cool here in the DFW area but we aren't having much luck. Today is the 36th day in a row of temperatures at or over 100 degrees, and it looks like we will have this record heat for at least another week. Did I mention I'm pregnant!!! You can only imagine how miserable it has been. We have been trying to go to the pool as often as possible but now even the pool is HOT. They reported on the news last night that the average "city pool" in the area was 93 degrees, and those are big pools...basically the temperature of a bath. I'm a summer girl, but I must say I am really looking forward to fall and winter this year. Bring on the snow!!!

A Night at the Fountains

I know most of you read my good friend Katie's blog so have probably seen these pictures. She is great at capturing moments with her camera, and sent me a few of Miss L. We loves the Johnson Boy(s)...I laugh when writing this because their Momma is about to welcome another cute boy to the family. They will always be known as the "Johnson Boys"because she swears baby #3 will be her last.

This Texas heat is about to kill all of us...we are trying to stay cool anyway we can. Fountains after dinner...I'm there! I still cannot believe I thought being pregnant in the summer would be a good idea...this is exactly how I planned it so I only have myself to blame. Crazy me!

Shortly after the 4th of July we had a mini "family reunion" for Trey's family in Dallas. Uncle Dave was driving in from Houston and wanted to take in a Rangers game while in town. He was kind enough to treat us for our birthday to a night at the ballpark. It was yet another first for Landry, and boy was she a lucky girl. We were waiting for the game to start and a nice grounds crew member saw her and came over to offer her a batting practice ball. Of course...she went into total "shy mode". Her Daddy on the other hand was super excited. He said, "I spent my entire life trying to catch a foul ball, and she is just handed one...unbelievable!" Welcome to life with a cute daughter Daddy...see it does have some perks. Her Daddy also enjoyed teaching her a little bit about baseball. She got the hang of it and was quite the Rangers cheerleader. We all had a great, HOT, time at the game...Thanks David for the early birthday treat!

L's First Trip to the Lake

When we were in Rogers for the 4th of July (yes, that is how behind I am) we spent a day on Beaver Lake. Growing up I spent many weekends on this lake and have some many great memories, so I was really excited to take Landry out for the first time. Aunt Jessie and Uncle Ty Ty have a great boat and volunteered to take us & The Hahn's (with kiddos) out for the day. Very brave of them! We had a blast! The kids loved the boat and the water. Ty Ty even broke out his giant tube for the kids to ride on. Here are some pictures of Landry's first Beaver Lake adventure!

Family, Friends, Food & Fireworks

I am a little delayed in posting these pictures but better late than never. We traveled to AR for the 4th of July to spend the weekend with my family. Our good friends The Hahn's (who now live in KS) met us there for the weekend. Landry adores Hudson & Landon (the boys) so she was super excited that they were going to be at JoJo's house with her. We spent most of the weekend by the pool, eating and drinking. We also spend one day on the lake which the kids loved...I will post those photos later.

After a day at the pool Aunt Sarah asked if the kids could come over to make cookies and assemble the "Flag" cake. Of course you can entertain the kids Sarah...anytime! They loved everything and were super tired by the end of the weekend. Thank you Julie and Steve for coming to AR to spend time with us...we miss you in Texas!

Water Wednesday

Every Wednesday in the summer Mrs. Kelly hosts "Water Wednesday" for the girls. Landry loves the water so Wednesdays are a big day for her. Our week in Rosemary

Ahh...Rosemary Beach...this place might just be heaven on earth! This was our second family trip to Rosemary Beach, FL and definitely not our last. We rented a beach house for a week with my sister Jessie and her husband Tyler (Ty Ty) and my cousins Tyler, Lindsey and their little girl Stella. We each took a babysitter along with us, in the form of a grandma...Landry had her JoJo and Stella had her GG! It was so cute listening to them both call for JoJo & GG. So that made 10 of us all together. We had an amazing time in this sleepy little beach town. We all had bikes to cruise around on, even us pregnant ladies (did I mention my sister is also expecting a baby). The girls spent the days on the beach and relaxing in the pool, while the guys spent most of the trip on the go. Between golf, fishing, scuba and beach bars they were pretty busy. The little girls loved taking bike rides and walks in the morning and practicing their swimming in the afternoon. I took nearly 900 photos on this trip so here are a handful of my favorites. Most are of the kiddos...no one wants to see this pregnant momma in a swimsuit...trust me! Enjoy the photos of our summer vacation.
